There is a time and a place for everything, and that is certainly true when it comes to communicating with your prospects and your clients. You want to speak to them where they are at, to have the most effective uptake of your information by them. What do they need at this moment in their journey? Here are some things to help you create here and now, messages for your client and prospect communications.
You want to go where they are with your message. So, choose the formats and the channels where your clients already are hanging out or are consuming information. It makes no sense to create a message and communications in a place you choose because you think that’s a good idea. If that means, that’s extra effort for your prospects to find it and open it or, or come to it. Also, you want to speak to what they are doing with your messaging. So, you want to be where they are at in terms of their understanding of you, their understanding of your industry or your application. Are they beginners or experts? And even how far are they in the process of their experience with you?
And you also want to stay in the present. Don’t get ahead of yourself. Focus on what they need now and don’t burden them with information that they don’t need till later, that will just confuse things and create a more difficult message. What is next for them in their experience with you, in their journey with you? And focus just on that information. Focus on now, and you will actually be heard.
So it, it may seem daunting to think through how you communicate in different places and in different times, but a simple trick is to focus as much as you can on them and it will naturally lead you to what it is that they need to hear right now.
